INCIDENT AMONG MEMBERS OF YOUTH WING OF COALITION GEORGIAN DREAM IN SHUAKHEVI

2012-08-08 On August 5, an incident occurred in Shuakhevi hotel where members of the Coalition Georgian Dream youth wing were living. Irakli Doborjginidze was allegedly prowling around the hotel in his car (with registration: GVG 121). He was inviting members of the youth wing into his car and asking questions such as whether they were smoking marijuana. While they were in the car, youth wing members found a video camera and recording devices in his car leading them to report the incident. The police has arrested activists of Georgian Dream, Giorgi Khurtsidze and Giorgi Oboladze, as witnesses of the incident. According to the Georgian Dream press speaker, Maia Panjikidze, the Coalition has applied to the IATF to investigate the incident. [youtube]3hlXL5XnWRo[/youtube]
2012-08-05 Giorgi Khurtsidze was arrested the following day, on August 5 in Batumi. The very same day member of the youth group Giorgi Oboladze was also detained in Tkibuli, Dato Kublashvili – in Tbilisi. According to the detainees’ lawyer, Irakli Shavadze, all three of them were questioned as witnesses in relation to a case involving theft and illegal deprivation of liberty, and released soon after the questioning.
