Incident Category: Intimidation, Dismissal from work
2012-08-08 On June 19 2012, Director of Kobuleti Public College (under control of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia), Mr. Mchedlishvili, has dismissed his deputy director Tamar Kaikatsishvili. On June 6, he asked Mrs. Tamar to write a statement declaring that she was leaving work for personal reasons. Mrs. Kaikatsishvili asked to be given time until the end of the exam period, but she was refused. Mr. Mchedlishvili said he has received dismissal directions from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. On June 15, with the help of lawyers, Kaikatsishvili returned to the college and continued to work. On June 19, Mchedlishvili has again dismissed Mrs. Kaikatsishvili for making mistakes within her teaching. Tamar Kaikatsishvili was dismissed for political reasons. As her relative and close friend of family, Vazha Beridze was invited in Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Advisory Council. In addition, the reason might also be Tamar’s brother, who works in Human Rights field. This case is being reviewed in Batumi City Court.
