PHYSICAL ASSAULT ON JOURNALIST GELA MTIVLISHVILI IN TIANETI

2012-06-16 As eyewitnesses reported to Transparency International Georgia three men forced a journalist into the police station. According to Gela Mtvivllishvili, he was hit in the stomach several times and once in the head by police officers there. He claims that the footage reflecting his arrest was deleted from the camera.

2012-06-15 On May 20, 2012, journalist of Mtskheta-Mtianeti information center, Gela Mtvlivishvili, was detained by the local police in Tianeti while taking a picture of a police building on his camera. Due to the deterioration of his health, the police had to call the ambulance. The police took away his camera, physically attacked him and did not allow him to talk to a lawyer.
