2013-03-18 On March 18 Levan Lortkipanidze resigned from his position of Municipality Gamgebeli. After his arrest court granted the motion of the prosecution for his resignation. Deputy Gamgebeli was also dismissed based on a letter of resignation for personal reasons. He was arrested together with Gamgebeli on March 13 by officers of the agency for combating corruption. Acting Gamgebeli has been appointed.

2012-12-28 On December 28, Khelvachauri Municipality Gamgebeli applied to Sakrebulo Chairperson with a request for resignation. The new Gamgebeli was elected on December 31 at a meeting of Sakrebulo where 17 members were present. All of them voted for Levan Lortkipanidze who used to be the head of the Georgian Dream’s office during the parliamentary elections. Total of two candidates had submitted their applications for the opening – Levan Lortkipanidze and Iasha Gvianidze. The latter did not attend the meeting and consequently, Sakrebulo did not consider his candidacy.
