2013-01-08 On January 8, Gamgebeli of Shuakhevi Nugzar Amaghlobeli submitted an application for resignation. Former Gamgebeli never discussed reasons for resignation in public. During a meeting of Sakrebulo on January 10, new Gamgebeli was elected. There was a single application submitted for the vacant position. All 19 members of Sakrebulo voted for Tamaz Davitadze (faction Our Shuakhevi). Davitadze was heading the steering group of the Georgian Dream’s offie during the elections. According to Sakrebulo Chairperson Iuri Katamadze, approval of the new Gamgebeli was expedited by bad weather as the population of highlands needed assistance in time.
