2013-01-23 On January 23, Sakrebulo held a meeting attended by the local population and activists of the Georgian Dream. The meeting was rather noisy. Part of the population demanded resignation of Sakrebulo Chairperson Davit Mesropashvili (UNM), and sought to discuss several problems at the meeting. According to the ISFED’s coordinator, the population had not yet expressed their position when the meeting was declared finished. This irritated the population and some of them invaded the office of Sakrebulo Chairperson. A dweller of the village Doesi accused Mesropashvili of exerting pressure, while a dweller of the village Aghaiani and an activist of the Georgian Dream Vakhtang Papashvili blamed him for the lack of drinking water in the village. Member of Sakrebulo representing Aghaiani tried to force him out of the office, a clash ensued and a fight broke out. As a result, Sakrebulo Chairperson suffered bodily injury. Deputy Chief of Police Nikoloz Otarov, criminal proceedings has been instituted in beating of Sakrebulo Chairperson Davit Mesropashvili and a probe is ongoing.
