On March 20, following a two-day protest rallies Gardabani Gamgebeli Zviad Epitashvili submitted a letter of resignation. The district is now governed by Acting Governor Levan Khutsishvili who served as the head of the coalition Georgian Dream’s office in Gardabani during pre-election period. Sakrebulo approved his candidacy with absolute majority of votes. According to the deputy chairperson of Gardabani Sakrebulo, no pressure has been mounted against the former Gamgebeli....

On February 27 a protest rally was organized by representatives of the Georgian Dream outside offices of Gamgeoba. The rally participants included supporters of the Georgian Dream that had arrived from almost all villages of Gardabani Municipality, around 250 people. On December 27, the protesters assembled outside Gamgeoba offices for a warning rally. They were protesting election of Sakrebulo Chairperson in a hasty manner and expressing their disapproval of the method. They were also demanding replacement of municipal authorities by representatives of the Georgian Dream and lobbied for the appointment of Gela Khutsishvili to the position of Gamgebeli. Gamgebeli himself, Zviad Epitashvili stated that he was not going to resign at his own will...

He had been working at Gardabani Gamgeoba at various positions since 2006, the most recent being the position of faction chairperson (Georgian Dream). The newly elected chairperson declared that he would announce a competition to hire new employees....
